The Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act helps the Government of Canada deter corruption in the extractive sector. Extractive entities — oil, gas, and mining businesses — that are active in Canada must publicly disclose certain types of payments made to governments in Canada and abroad.

Filter, cluster, and plot payee_project_name labels, in order to identify proximity or duplicates. Over 700 duplicates identified! Written in Julia.

Grouping by Country and Entity

Analyzes and plots the distribution of payment contribution per percentile, and finds which entities make the majority share of payments. Written in R.

A pivot table in Plotly to examine the amounts and types of payments entities make each year. Uses Pandas for data frames. Written in Python.

International data (third-party)

Resource Projects is an open-data portal published by the Natural Resource Governance Institute. It provides information about payments made to governments by businesses that extract oil, gas and mineral resources worldwide. This interactive website includes ESTMA data that has been aggregated with data generated by the European Union and European Economic Area.
